 The Royal Palace Kanker is a small but magnificent palace situated in the exceptionally beautiful and green surroundings of Kanker. Kanker is a district headquarter town, which was formerly a part of the famous Bastar district of Chhattisgarh. Located at about 140 km south of Raipur- the capital city of Chhattisgarh- Kanker is famous for its untouched forests, unique tribal villages and the last but not least the Royal Kanker Palace along with some fine century-old colonial buildings. The unique tribes of Kanker still practice age-old crafts and traditions and the region offers a different experience to its visitors.
The small but majestic Kanker Palace is owned by the prestigious Royal family, who trace their ancestors back to the 12th century AD. Still the residential home of the Royal family of the late Maharajadhiraj Udai Pratap Deo, the Palace has opened a part of it for tourists, maintaining an informal elegance amid many mementoes of their royal past, since 2002.

Set amidst the beautiful landscaped gardens, Royal Palace Kanker has 3 modern and well-equipped suites, retaining the earthy flavour. All suites are very large and spacious with separate dressing rooms, old styled bathrooms with showers and cloth pankhas (ceiling fans). Again, they have high ceilings and are furnished with local designs and the original palace furniture. The Palace has a large dining room serving delicious Indian cuisines. Besides, there and a cosy sitting room and a small sitting area on the verandah, offering a breathtaking view of the lush surroundings.

You can also enjoy a nature walk to surrounding farms and lush green hills. You can also visit the potters and bell-metal makers at Kondagaon in Bastar. A visit to the Muria tribal region can truly be a fascinating experience for you.
